Attorney Jay M. Glaser
Serving Long Beach and Surrounding Cities in California
It is with a great deal of sadness that the Law Offices of Glaser, Damone and Schroeder announce the passing of its member, Mr. Jay M. Glaser. His compassion, diligence and work ethic are tenets upon which he built this Firm, and served this community for the past twenty-five years. These tenets continue to guide this Firm as we continue to serve this community and honor his legal legacy.
Jay M. Glaser has been a practicing criminal defense attorney in the State of California for 25 years and is the founding partner at the Law Offices of Glaser, Damone & Schroeder. Mr. Glaser is a native of California; he went to the University of Southern California (USC) and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science in 1985. Mr. Glaser received his Juris Doctor in 1988 from the Southwestern University School of Law.
Experience in the Field
Upon graduation, he worked for the Los Angeles County District Attorney and as a Deputy Public Defender from 1988-1991. During this time, he received invaluable experience working to defend the rights of the criminally accused throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Serving as a judge pro tem for the Los Angeles County Superior Courts from 1991-2003, he gathered extremely advantageous knowledge and familiarity with the criminal justice system.
In 2001, he became a Certified Criminal Law Specialist, as appointed by the California State Bar. This not only required him to pass various intense legal examinations, but he also had to have extensive experience in the field and favorable peer reviews to back him up. Acceptable reviews could come from judges, prosecutors and defense lawyers that had seen his work in action. Additionally, his education in criminal law must remain current during the duration of his certification and every 5 years he has to become "re-certified" to maintain that his certification denotes that he is of the highest standard. This certification process reveals Attorney Glaser's drive to become the best at his practice, as he is always learning and striving to find new avenues to help his clients.
Accolades and Achievements
As a Long Beach criminal defense attorney, Jay Glaser has had the honor of being included in the list of
California Super Lawyers® for three consecutive years from 2011-2013. This is an award given to less than 5% of lawyers in the entire state, setting him apart from the rest. Given the highest possible AV® Rating from the prestigious Martindale-Hubbell®, Attorney Glaser has been recognized for both his professional and ethical approach to each case he takes on. Declared as one of Southern California's Best Lawyers in their 2011 edition, it is no wonder that he is so respected on various news platforms and amongst the legal community. Ranked by both his colleagues and past clients, he has achieved a 9.2 Superb Avvo Rating, revealing his dedication to his work, his overall level of involvement and peer endorsements.
Mr. Glaser serves on the Executive Committee for the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Indigent Criminal Defense Appointments Panel that oversees approximately 360 attorneys. This program serves indigent criminal defendants in the event that the Public Defender and Alternative Public Defender are not available. Membership is restricted to those that meet strict qualifications. Many times these lawyers will offer up pro bono work to help the court get through large amounts of cases for certain special assignments.
Mr. Glaser specializes in complex felony litigation including:
All types of homicides, sexual assault cases, violent felonies & narcotics including both white collar crimes and crimes of violence. In addition, he has handled bank fraud, wire fraud, insurance fraud, trademark infringement, environmental crimes, counterfeit, medical fraud, narcotics trafficking, and homicides.
